昨日は毎年恒例になっている、福島郡山にある国際A&D専門大学校の一日講師の日でした。
毎年、一年生と二年生が参加してくれているのですが、二年生は昨年同じMAOCATの錆塗装を経験している生徒さんになります。
昨年思ったことが、基本の錆のやり方を習得させずに応用編をやってしまったことに少しだけ後悔があり、
今回は一度受講した二年生に、まずは、錆塗装の基本中の基本を体験してもらおうと思いました。
戦車などがあまざらしで朽ち果て、錆が出てきているのをイメージして、３色の中から好きな色を選んでもらって
基本となる下地を塗装してもらい、その後、私の手元を大きなスクリーンに映し出しつつ、
作業工程を見ながら同じようにやってもらうという感じで行いました。
一年生でまだ受講をしていないはずの生徒さんで激烈上手にこなしている方が数名いてちょっと驚かされました。
私の制作した見本作品はこんな感じにしました。急遽マスキングテープがあったので、サインをステンシル風に仕上げてみました。

毎回楽しい実技なのでまた来年もできたらよいなー
早朝起きて、４回ほど電車を乗り継いで新幹線に乗って郡山へ行き、ミーティングに参加して実技をやって帰ってくるのですが、
帰るときは深夜になっていてかなり年齢的に疲れてしまいますけど、年に一度のキンキンに冷えた郡山が既に懐かしく思っております。
Yesterday was the annual guest lecture day at the International A&D University in Fukushima’s Koriyama City.
Every year, first and second-year students participate, with the second-year students having experienced the same MAOCAT rust painting workshop last year.
Reflecting on last year, I had a slight regret about delving into advanced applications without first mastering the basics of rust painting. Therefore, this time, I decided to let the second-year students, who had already taken the course once, experience the fundamentals of rust painting.
Imagining tanks and other objects left to the elements, corroded and rusted, students chose a color from three options, painted the foundational base, and then, while projecting my work onto a large screen, they followed along with the process.
Surprisingly, there were a few first-year students who hadn’t taken the course yet but demonstrated impressive skills. I created a sample piece with a stencil-like signature using masking tape that I happened to have.

It’s always an enjoyable hands-on experience, and I hope to do it again next year.
Despite waking up early and taking four trains to reach Koriyama via the Shinkansen, participating in meetings, and conducting practical exercises, returning is always late at night, and I feel quite tired due to my age. However, the once-a-year chilly Koriyama already feels nostalgic to me.
