Sometimes, due to unfortunate circumstances, a character ends up being released in very limited quantities. Despite the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail, a series of bad luck can lead to a character only being released once. This fox with nine tails is one such example.
In Japan, there’s an ancient legend that a fox with nine tails gains supernatural powers and becomes a terrifying being. I also designed a fox with such immense power. However, in my version, the fox is not a frightening figure. Instead, I combined the nine tails into a knot, inspired by traditional Japanese symbols of good fortune, to represent the tying of good relationships. The character was created with the hope that it would bring good luck and strong connections to the purchaser.
Unfortunately, it seems that good fortune didn’t extend to my relationship with the manufacturer, haha.
稀に運が悪く、少量のみの販売になってしまうキャラクターが存在します。
かなり造形もよく、こだわりを感じられますが、色々な不運が重なって
一回だけのリリースで終わってしまいます。
この九本の尻尾を持つキツネもそのうちの一匹です。
日本では古来から妖力を得た狐の尻尾が9本生えてとてつもなく恐ろしい存在になるという伝説があります。
私もその強大な力を持った狐をデザインしたことがあります。
ただ、私の場合は恐ろしい存在ではなく、
自信の9本の尻尾を組み合わせて、日本古来の縁起物と掛け合わせることにして、
縁結びの結び方を尻尾で表現して、購入者によい良縁がありますようにという願掛けも込めたキャラクターにしました。
が、私とメーカーとの良縁には結ばれなかったというオチが笑
